Barack Obama Chooses Kehinde Wiley to Paint Official Presidential Portrait

The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery have announced that former president Barack Obama has selected and commissioned artist Kehinde Wiley to paint his presidential portrait. Additionally, former first lady Michelle Obama has selected Baltimore artist Amy Sherald. Both artists will be the first black people to paint a presidential portrait, and both artists have an extensive history using black subjects in their art. Wiley himself has found thorough in Hip Hop, painting artists like Biggie, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Ice T and more.

Those looking to see the final pictures will have to wait until 2018 when they'll be unveiled at the the National Portrait Gallery.
